Short Presentation

Associate Professor at CEU San Pablo.  I am an expert on indirect searches for Dark Matter (DM), particle and astroparticle physics and machine learning (ML), with a particular focus on both experimental and theoretical aspects. I led the first search for DM candidates among the unidentified gamma-ray sources of Fermi-LAT with machine learning (ML) . Although the work has been published very recently, many follow-up papers are already under study. I have first proposed the possibility to use dwarf irregular galaxies  (dIrrs) as target for DM searches with gamma rays. After the first theoretical analysis has been developed, I have led the data analysis of HAWC and Fermi-LAT supervising the work of both PhD students and postdocs, internal and external of those international collaborations . The constraints obtained by the analysis of dIrrs are only a factor 3 less stringent than the analysis obtained with benchmark targets, such as dwarf spheroidal galaxies (dSph), making the dIrrs promising targets for the next generation of experiment (3 peer-reviewed articles with 61 citations). I am an expert of the physics at the Galactic Center (GC) region  (8 peer-reviewed publications with 240 citations in total). During my PhD, I have proposed the first multi-TeV WIMP particle as candidate to fit the HESS gamma-ray data of the GC. HESS is the only Cherenkov telescope available to detect multi-TeV gamma rays at the GC at the moment. I have studied multimessenger and multi-wavelength constraints of the multi-TeV WIMP candidates, actively working on published data and instrumental response functions of neutrinos and antiprotons detectors (e.g., IceCube and PAMELA) and supervising the analysis with the SKA interferometric radio telescopes. I found out a compatibility of the gamma-ray signal with not only the multimessenger analysis of data and upper limits available at the moment, but also the DM density distribution expected by a local enhancement due to the black hole Sgr A* at the GC. The last work, developed during a 4 months stay as visitor of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico (UNAM) in collaboration with experts in hydrodynamical simulations, was granted by “ Becas Santander Iberoamérica España 2015”, Amount: 10000€. The spectral and spatial analysis of the GC region developed in the latter 10 years, is also of interest for the next CTA Observatory. I am an expert of branon WIMP candidate, one of the few theoretical models which can justify the existence of WIMP candidates at the TeV energy scale. I led a work as a member of the CTA collaboration and as external co-author of MAGIC, to set constraints on the branon WIMP candidate.  Currently I am the director of a Ph.D. thesis on “Indirect detection of dark matter in the view of Multi-TeV WIMP candidates”. Since 2018, I am a member of both the CTA consortium and Fermi-LAT collaboration and external collaborator of MAGIC and HAWC.

Among other outreach activities, I have been invited to give a talk in the cycle of conferences “ El paisaje de la Física Fundamental", organized by the IFT-CSIC at the Residencia de Estudiantes in Madrid, give seminar to 4-10 years-old students of the Collegio de San Idelfonso, Madrid, to write an article for the CTA outreach Program. Since January 2023 I am the coordinator of CTA for the outreach program.

I have been the supervisor of 6 “Trabajo de Fin de Grado (TFG)”, 1 “Trabajo de Fin de Master (TFM)”, 1 PhD student. I was the Principal Investigator (P.I.)/tutor of the research training project “Programa de ayudas para el fomento de la investigación en estudios de Máster” supported by the UAM. Amount: 4400 € and 1 FPI Severo Ochoa.

I have collaborated in leading scientific articles that have been part of the doctoral theses of 5 PhD students. I have been a member of 2 doctoral thesis committee, 1 bachelor thesis committee,  1 selection committee for a predoctoral student and 2 selection committee for a postdoctoral position. I am a referee for PRD, Apj, internal referee for the Fermi-LAT collaboration and I am part of the Spanish evaluation system (EVALUA). I have 100 teaching hours in Bachelor and PhD degree course.

I have 52 scientific articles, with more than 1200 citations, h-index 17 (InSPIRE). Positive evaluation of ANECA as profesora contratada doctora. I was awarded with the doctoral prize for the best Ph.D. thesis Complutense 2015. I developed organization skills, having been part of the Scientific and Local Organizing Committee (SOC & LOC) of several conferences and schools, e.g. ISAPP school and “Cosmology in Dubrovnik 2018”. I am a postdoc representative in the " Equity, Diversity and Inclusion" (EDI)  Committee @ IFT UAM-CSIC. Bilingual in Italian and Spanish, fluent in English.B.2. Breve descripción del Trabajo de Fin de Máster (TFM) y puntuación obtenida 2010 - "Geometric torsion and large scale structures" - University of studies of Napoli "Federico II" - Summa cum LaudeSupervisors: S.
