I started my research activity in Universidad Autónoma de Madrid ( UAM), where I held a FPI fellowship at Centro de Biología Molecular Severo Ochoa in Dr. Miguel A. Alonso Lab. My research studies were focused on the role of rafts protein machinery in regulating endolysosomal trafficking. In 2007 I was granted with an EMBO Short Term Fellow in Anne J. Ridley´s Lab at UCL (London) to study molecular hallmarks during inflammation in endothelial cells. Throughout the entire PhD dedicated to study membrane cell biology I demonstrated productive and collaborative efforts leading to several publications in high tier journals, 7 as co-author and 2 as first author ( Aranda JF, 2011, Aranda JF, 2013). After a short postdoc at CIEMAT- Oncology Unit in Madrid in 2011, where I had the opportunity to apply my knowledge in epithelial cell biology to Clinical cancer studies (resulting in 2 co-author publications), I moved to New York University School of Medicine to start a postdoctoral position in Dr. Fernández-Hernando laboratory. Here I focused in the elucidation of new biochemical microRNA pathways involved in the regulation of lipid metabolism and endosomal trafficking through control of LDLR cholesterol dynamic. In 2013 I signed an appointment as a postdoctoral fellow at Yale University, where I continued my studies in miRNAs and metabolism. A total of 12 publications, including reviews and top-rated articles as co-author and first author were obtained (Goedeke et al, Nat med, 2015; Aranda et al, JCS, 2015). I am the co-corresponding author of a paper describing the role of miR-199 attenuating Shiga Toxin Cytotoxicity ( Aranda et al, MCB, 2018). To follow the natural extension of my scientific career, in 2014, I moved to NYU school of Medicine as ASSOCIATE RESEARCH SCIENTIST with Prof. Ann Marie Schmidt, Head of the Diabetes Research Program. In october 2017, I returned to Spain to join Dra. Mittelbrunn Inmunometabolism Lab at UAM as a Postdoctoral researcher. Due to my strong background in the field, the research project that I held was the study of the mechanisms into how mitochondrial dysfunction in T cells contributes to Adipose tissue-associated diseases such as Cachexia. As a result of this research work I am the second author in a Science Journal article, which describes the role of dysmetabolic T cell in the onset of age-related diseases. Also I have contibuted very recently to a review in Nature Reviews Inmunology about this topic. Since december 2018, I was a part time teacher at Biomedical Sciences Department in Universidad Europea de Madrid and nowdays I recently signed for a full profesor position in San Pablo- CEU University ( march 2021) where I am teaching human physiology in medicine degree and also I recently joined as a team member of Esclerosis Multiple Research group at Instituto de medicina molecular Aplicada (IMMA) in CEU-San Pablo University headed by Dra Maria Cruz Sabada Argaiz.
