Breve Presentación

Irina Palacín Aliana graduated in Biotechnology in the University of Vic (UVic-UCC) (Barcelona) in 2016. She then completed a Master's Degree in Regenerative Medicine and Cell Therapy at the San Pablo-CEU University (Madrid) where she did her Final Master's Project in the Brain Tumor Lab led by Dr. Ángel Ayuso, scientific director of the Vithas hospital chain. In 2018, she was hired by the HM Hospitals Research Foundation as a predoctoral researcher and began collaborating with the Pluripotent Cell Technology Unit of the National Center for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC). 
In 2019 she was awarded a grant for the hiring of predoctoral and postdoctoral researchers (YEI) financed by the Autonomous Community of Madrid (CAM) to carry out her research activity at the San Pablo University -CEU led by the Dr. Estanislao Nistal and she enrolled in the doctoral program in Functional Biology and Biotechnology from the University of Alcalá de Henares (UAH). 
In 2020 she was hired by the company Atrys Health S.A to carry out her industrial doctorate in collaboration with the HM Hospitals Research Foundation under the direction of Dr. Ángel Ayuso Sacido (for the academic part) and Dr. Víctor González Rumayor (for the business). Before finishing her PhD, Irina moved to Chicago, Illinois, United States, as a Visiting Predoctoral Fellow in the Department of Neurological Surgery and Department of Radiation Oncology. She successfully defended her PhD thesis in June 2023 and was awarded the degree of "cum laude" in recognition of her outstanding performance.

Then, she became a Postdoctoral Fellow and Lab Manager in the Sita Lab, under the mentorship of Timothy L. Sita, Maciej Lesniak and Amy B. Heimberger, located in the Malnati Brain Tumor Institute in the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine located in Chicago, Illinois, United States, in the Department of Radiation Oncology and the Department of Neurological Surgery. 
Irina during her postdoctoral fellow has continued her eduction in Project Management, in Practical Project Planning, and also in the Development of People and Teams. Courses taught in the Northwestern University School of Professional Studies. 


At the end of 2024, Irina moved back to Madrid, Spain and currently, she is an Assistant professor (Profesora Colaboradora Doctora) teaching Histology at San Pablo CEU University to the Medicine, Biotechnology and Pharmacy degree programs. While, she keeps colaborating as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Sita Lab, located in the Malnati Brain Tumor Institute in the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine located in Chicago, Illinois, United States, in the Department of Radiation Oncology and the Department of Neurological Surgery. 

Irina is author of 8 original articles (4 as main author), as well as several communications to congresses. 
As a teaching activity, Irina has directed several Final Degree Projects as well as students doing national and international external practices.
